As we all have experienced and expressed, 2020 has been,.... a shit hurricane. I choose to not reflect on the mess that was 2020, but to keep my eyes on the clearing fog that lies ahead and why “ We “ made it out.
The switch from Krank to JCK to WS was a scary time for me and those of you that went through it. You were losing your gym, I was going to be out of a job. We rallied and made it happen. People gave and contuined to work. The heat/ ac broke and We stilled worked, hot or cold and Jack Pestaner would give his energy to do the repair. Jerome Fazzari would help with any holes that needed to be made.....no not for bodies. Ryan Brennan made the Website from scratch. Everyone made a contribution . All the while Ashish Patel and Terence Gallagher are insulting each other. But We made it out.
Fast forward to lovely 2020, shit got real , and yet here we are. In a time when the world was burning and life is not certain, All of you continued to effortlessly display compassion, generosity , and selflessness , not only to this place but to each other. While businesses closed , We kept the wheels turning. You preserved our bubble. You were considerate with the health of other gym members and remained civil while still training hard every day.
While the world became divided, you kept our world together. We all have freely expressed different thoughts and beliefs on various issues to one another, never to be challenged or belittled by the next person. Everyday you proved that a group of people, black, white , Asian, gay, rich, poor, old , young, female , male , Ashish, Terry can coexist. When shit hits the fan, you don’t turn on each other , you lift each other.
The thought / belief / meaning with the name WeStrong was that the many are stronger than the one/ few. From a training perspective , your workouts are better with more people than they would be training alone. You pick each other up for that extra rep or to lift those extra 10 lbs. But the deeper meaning for WeStrong was always humanity.
You are proof of what this world can and should be, thank you for making me believe.
2020 is gone but We are still here.
